Education and Scholarship

The Theta chapter of Gamma Phi Beta has prided itself on strong academics for years and this past fall quarter 2009, we achieved the highest of all sorority grade point averages with a 3.48. This is higher than the all-women gpa for the University of Denver, which was a 3.46 for fall quarter. Then, for the winter quarter of 2010, we achieved once again the highest of all sorority grade point averages with a 3.52. This is higher than the all-women gpa for DU, which was a 3.44.

Our scholarship chairwoman, Ashley Bonner, has created a scholarship program that both recognizes the achievements of our stellar academic sisters and challenges sisters to improve their scholastics even more. This includes gifting sisters who have achieved a 4.0 quarter gpa with a scholarship pearl to dangle on their Gamma Phi Beta lavalier necklaces. Ashley also holds study hours at the library, which are determined on an individual basis.

Our sisters study a variety of subjects, including but not limited to history, political science, English, biology, chemistry, business, accounting, and more! This variety allows us to use our sisters as sources of academic guidance and provides us with a great oppotunity to study in groups and bond as sisters. Ashely has compiled a "major list" that all sisters have access to so that they can seek guidance or advice from another sister in their area of studies.
