Philanthropic Endeavors

One of the main aspects of Gamma Phi Beta that forms our strong foundation is our philanthropy. International Gamma Phi Beta has chosen camping for girls as its philanthropic endeavor and has recently implemented a program called "Crescent Classic" to raise money for this cause.  Our philanthropic mission is to "build social, emotional and spiritual resiliency in young women." In order to adequately fulfill our mission, Gamma Phi Beta works with an organization called Campfire USA. Campfire USA is a "non-for-profit youth development organization" that offers programs which include leadership roles, diversity, environmental appreciation, women's issues, etc.

Theta chapter executes one philanthropic event per quarter that support our philanthropy and other local organizations as well. Our "Crescent Classic" event is Spagammi and historically has taken place during winter quarter. Spagammi is a campus-wide spaghetti dinner that the women of Gamma Phi Beta host every year in order to raise money.  2010's Spagammi raised over $6,000 for our philanthropy, camping for girls.

In 2010, Theta chapter "adopted" a local elementary school. Each week, sisters go to the school to assist young students at their homework club. This is a great way for sisters to log regular service hours and contribute to the resiliency of young children, which is in unison with our philanthropy.

Theta chapter also participates in community service.  A main event that we look forward to every year is volunteering at Gates Camp, which is in unison with Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropy. Other fun service events have included volunteering at a retirement community and making and delivering valentines to Veterans at the local veteran hospital.
